The distinguished dual-certified family and women’s health nurse practitioner, Dr. Vishnu Maya Upadhyay, has a long history of commitment to patient care and volunteer work.
Dr. Upadhyay commenced her nursing career with a BSN from Raj Kamari Amrit Kaur (RAK) College in New Delhi, India. Embodying the principle that “you are never too old to stop learning,” she pursued further education upon immigrating to America. Driven by her passion for women’s and family health, she obtained certifications as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from UT Southwestern in 2000 and a Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman’s University in 2008. In 2017, she achieved the pinnacle of her academic journey with a DNP from Chamberlain University.
Her commitment extends beyond academia to impactful research. Dr. Upadhyay has authored two professional papers: “Assessment of Grief After Miscarriage Using Perinatal Bereavement Scale for Advanced Nurse Practitioners” and “Screening Tool for Depression in Primary Care for Young Adults.”
Not only is she a healthcare professional, but Dr. Upadhyay is deeply involved in community service. As a proud member of the Dallas Everest Lions Club (DELC), she serves as secretary and Health Coordinator. Additionally, she holds executive roles in the USA-Nepal Community Outreach Network (UNCON) and the Nepalese American Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Upadhyay’s determination and motivation shine in her workplace and community. Advocating for health, wellness, and women’s empowerment, she inspires others with her enthusiasm. Her passion lies in preventive care, evident through her participation in charity 5K runs, blood drives, free physical exams, and health fairs. Dr. Upadhyay’s commitment extends to organizing free health camps and delivering health education lectures to various organizations.
Beyond her community contributions, Dr. Upadhyay actively promotes the Nurse Practitioner (NP) profession. She serves as an online faculty member, precepting NP students and offering clinical training to various healthcare professionals.
Currently residing in Sunnyvale, Texas, with her supportive husband and three loving children, Dr. Upadhyay’s journey is a testament to her commitment to healthcare, education, and community service.
