In the enchanting realm of Baficot VDC-8, nestled amid the rolling hills of Rukum, a remarkable soul named Mohan Kusarai was born. From an early age, his passion for serving others burned brightly within. Destiny beckoned him to the United States, where he would emerge as a visionary entrepreneur, weaving a tapestry of success through his multiple retail stores in the vibrant state of Texas.
Raised by an erudite father and a compassionate mother, Mohan embarked on an educational journey, attending the esteemed Shree Nepal National Secondary School before securing his SLC certification from Siddhartha Secondary School in Rukum. Fuelled by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he ventured to Kathmandu, enrolling in Sano Thimi Campus to quench his intellectual curiosity. However, he charted a new course, diving into Health Assistant Education.
After completing his studies, Mohan sought professional opportunities in Afghanistan. But a twist of fate redirected him to Dubai, where he discovered the job awaiting him was as a chef in a US military base camp. Disheartened, he returned to Nepal and dedicated two years to the Dinaban Health Post in Rolpa, serving his community.
In 2014, Mohan set foot on American soil, ready to pursue his dreams. He began his journey at a gas station in Bryan, Texas, working tirelessly for three years, saving diligently. With his savings as a stepping stone, he joined his relatives in Austin and Marble Falls, embarking on his entrepreneurial path.
Drawing upon his partnership with the esteemed Birkha Khatri, Mohan delved into the gas station business. Their first venture in 2019 faltered, but they persevered, acquiring two more gas stations in Blanco, Texas. In 2020, Mohan expanded further, purchasing another gas station. Despite market setbacks in 2021, his resolve remained unshaken, and in 2022, he triumphed, acquiring an additional six gas stations across Texas.
Mohan’s altruistic spirit extended beyond business. He served as Vice President of the NRNA Texas Chapter and as an Executive Member of the Greater Austin Nepali Society, tirelessly advocating for his community’s welfare.
Reflecting on his journey, Mohan expressed gratitude to his mentor, Birkha Khatri, for shaping him into the entrepreneur he had become. He emphasized the challenges of the gas station business, advising aspiring entrepreneurs to gain experience as workers before diving in.
Mohan’s achievements spoke of the American dream he tirelessly pursued. He settled in Austin, Texas with his loving spouse, Jeni Sapkota, and their three sons—Jesmond, Jession, and Jeamsmol.
