From the remote terrains of Solukhumbu, Ryan Lamgaday developed his skills and became a healthcare professional and a deeply engaged community organizer. His journey has been an odyssey of perseverance and dedication since then.

Born into a humble farmer family in Solukhumbu District, Lamgaday’s quest for knowledge began at 8. A brilliant student excelling in academics and extracurricular pursuits, he garnered accolades in speech and writing contests, utilizing his prize earnings to invest in educational materials.

With an insatiable thirst for learning, he pursued higher education at Mahendra Ratna Campus in Kathmandu, where he completed his B.Ed. with a major in Mathematics. His passion for writing led him to become a prominent writer and columnist, his powerful voice resonating through the pages of major national media.

Fueled by his advocacy for equality and civil rights, Lamgaday authored the book “Dalit Muktiko Prashana,” a testament to his unwavering commitment to social justice. His involvement as Secretary in the Nepal Utpidit Dalit Jatia Mukti Samaj further showcased his dedication to uplifting marginalized communities.

In pursuit of higher education and a desire to make a difference on a global scale, Lamgaday set his sights on the United States. In 2003, he embarked on a journey to Iowa’s Wartburg College to pursue a master’s degree in Sociology. The bustling streets of New York City beckoned, and he soon found himself in its embrace, facing the harsh reality of starting anew.

Struggling to make ends meet, Lamgaday persevered through multiple jobs, working tirelessly as a dishwasher in a Chinese restaurant, striving to bring food to the table. Determined to carve a unique path in life, he joined Starbucks and pursued his studies, completing his degree in Medical Laboratory Science in 2013.

With his unwavering dedication, he became a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist, working at esteemed institutions such as Elmhurst Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, and the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Fueling his passion for public health, he pursued a Master’s in Public Health at Monroe College, Kings Graduate School.

“The US is the land of opportunity,” he proclaimed, a testament to his journey of success, built on dedication and determination.

But his story does not end there, for Lamgaday’s enterprising spirit led him to venture into business. In 2021, he established a retail franchise, 7-Eleven, in his hometown and became a real estate owner. With his family’s unwavering support and tireless work ethic, Lamgaday’s success has been a testament to the power of entrepreneurship.
