Shiva Kumar Rai: Well Known Social Worker

Shiva Rai, a Home Care Provider and Direct Support Professional based in New Hampshire emerges as a beacon of inspiration in the realms of education, social service, and community development. His multifaceted journey encompasses a profound commitment to learning, volunteerism, and fostering positive change.

Shiva Rai’s educational odyssey commenced with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Nepal in 1986, laying the foundation for his unwavering passion for knowledge. His academic pursuits took him overseas, where he achieved a postgraduate diploma in Tropical Animal Production and Health (TAPH) from Edinburgh University, Scotland, in November 1992. Undeterred by geographical boundaries, he pursued further studies in the United States, earning a Master of Science in International Community Development (ICED) from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in September 2000. His pursuit of knowledge continued with an impressive array of degrees, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in January 2004 and a Master of Computer Information System (IT) in May 2007, both from SNHU.

Shiva Rai’s involvement in volunteer positions spans various social organizations across the United States. He served as the Founder and President of the United Kirat Rai Organization of America (UKROA) from 2007 to 2009, demonstrating his dedication to community building. His leadership extended to the role of President of the Federation of Indigenous People of Nepal in America (FIPNA) from 2011 to 2013, followed by the prestigious position of President of the Non-Residencet Nepali Association (NRNA) USA from 2013 to 2014. Shiva Rai‘’s commitment to advisory roles manifested in his contributions to the Non-Residence Nepalese (NRN) Organization of the USA since 2014, the International Nepali Literary Society (INLS) in New Hampshire since 2015, and his advisory role for the New Hampshire Nepali Community since 2017. Additionally, he became a member of the Everest Lions Club in New Hampshire in 2015, showcasing his dedication to community service. Shiva Rai’s stature in the global Nepali community rose further as he assumed the position of Honorary Council Member in the NRN International Coordination Council from 2016 to the present day.

Shiva Rai’s professional journey reflects a dedication to service both in Nepal and New Hampshire. His roles include Officer and Supervisor at PLAN International Nepal, Instructor and Principal of Utterpani Technical Institute, and Officer II in the Skill Testing division at CTEVT Nepal. In New Hampshire, he has been serving as a Home Care Provider and Adult Foster Care professional since May 2003, showcasing his commitment to the well-being of others. His role expanded to Residential Program Coordinator from August 17, 2009, to January 2, 2013, and currently, he serves as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the Institute of Professional Practice (IPPI) in New Hampshire since January 2013.
